University Athletes, Once Again, Recognize Meg Zets and Brandi Norman as Most Valuable Professors (February 2012)

 

Photo of Professors Meg Zets and Brandi NormanStudent athletes have chosen Professors Meg (Mary) Zets and Brandi Norman (pictured from left to right in the photo to the left) of the Biology Department as their Most Valuable Professors.

This is Meg's third year, and Brandi's second year, to receive the MVP distinction.

This is just the third year in a row in which student athletes have honored professors across campus who have given them the most positive experiences in the classroom.

Brandi and Meg, along with other honorees, were recognized during halftime of the UNCP men's basketball game on Wednesday, 15 February 2012.  The Student-Athletic Advisory Committee hosted the auspicious event, Faculty Appreciation Night, and bestowed a certificate of appreciation and a T-shirt on each honoree.

Meg has been teaching in the Department of Biology since 2007, the Photo of Professor Brandi Norman and student supporterssame year she received a M.A. in Science Education from the Department. She also holds a B.S. in Biology (tracks in Environmental Biology and Botany) from the Department and an A.S. in Animal Health from Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College in Tifton, Georgia.

Brandi is in her second year with the Department, coming to us from teaching positions at Abingdon High School and Virginia Highlands Community College in Abingdon, Virginia. Brandi has a B.S. in Biology from King College in Bristol, TN, and a M.S. in Biology from Radford University in Radford, VA.

Both professors teach the BIO 1000 Principles of Biology lecture and lab and the Department's new introductory course for non-majors --- BIO 1060 Exploring Life's Diversity.
