Multicultural Initiative in the Marine Sciences (MIMSUP) is Looking for Students to Attend Marine Science Program (October 2012)

Undergraduate students, if you have some interest in pursuing graduate study in the marine sciences, consider the Multicultural Initiative in the Marine Sciences (MIMSUP). This is a paid opportunity for undergraduate students to receive college credit and to undertake supervised research at the Shannon Point Marine Center in Washington state. Hands-on/on-site experiences play a critical role in steering students in the right direction.

A great example of this is Professor Erika Young of the UNCP Biology Department. Professor Young will soon receive her doctoral degree in Marine Sciences from the Marine Science Department at UNC-Chapel Hill. One of the pivotal opportunities that led her to the doctoral program was a predoctoral fellowship in marine sciences at the UNC Institute of Marine Sciences in Morehead City.

Learn more about the MIMSUP opportunity from its website, or click here to directly access an informational flyer. Students will undertake coursework from 8 January to 14 June 2013.

Deadline for applications is Friday, 9 November 2012.
