The Center for Academic Excellence offers online services for students who cannot travel to the UNCP campus.
Academic Resource Mentoring (ARMS)
For the online students, the ARMS program offers the same materials and information provided in face-to-face sessions through a module based online Blackboard “course.” Each week the student is given access to one skill set module which includes supplemental readings and activities designed to require thirty minutes of the student’s time to complete. This is the same time requirement of our on-campus mentoring program. Students receive individual feedback on the activities they turn in from an academic advisor. In addition, live Blackboard Collaborate sessions are offered throughout the semester at varying times to accommodate the unique schedules of online and evening students. These live sessions give students the opportunity to ask questions with an advisor and receive immediate feedback.

The CAE Tutoring Program offers tutoring services to online and/or distance education students in a “virtual classroom” using Blackboard Collaborate. Online tutoring works best if you have the capability to both listen and speak during the session.
To request an online tutoring appointment, please use this web form: http://www.uncp.edu/cae/study/tutoring_request.html. You have the option to request appointments as needed, or you may schedule a recurring weekly appointment. Students may be scheduled in groups in the online tutoring format. For more information, please contact Courtney Walters at 910-775-4408 or email@example.com.
