DoIT provides access to the UNCP WiFi wireless network for students, faculty, staff, and visitors with a temporary access permit.
The campus wireless network (uncpairnet) has been replaced with BraveWiFi and the residence halls with ResidentialWiFi. BraveWiFi will be available anywhere except inside University Housing, and ResidentialWiFi will be available in University Housing only. UNCPAIRNET will no longer be available.
When connecting to wireless on campus, select BraveWiFi. Select ResidentialWiFi in residence halls. After selecting the appropriate wireless network, click Connect.
What is the difference?
BraveWiFi only requires one authentication every 180 days for a device.
ResidentialWiFi requires a that computers with Windows or Mac operating systems have the Safe Connect policy key, an up-to-date antivirus both installed and running, and current operating system patches (see instructions for installing the Safe Connect policy key at www.uncp.edu/doit/resnet/register.html and system requirements). Mobile devices only require authentication. Once system requirements have been met for a particular device, authentication is effective for 180 days.
Once authenticated to a network, that device will meet the authentication requirements on either network.
