entrance exams

All programs* in the School of Graduate Studies require that applicants submit admission test (entrance exam) scores.

*MSN applicants may be allowed to waive the Entrance Examination requirement if their overall undergraduate GPA is ≥ 3.5 (out of 4.0).

The Miller Analogies Test (MAT) or Graduate Record Examination (GRE) scores are accepted by all programs except:
the Master of Business Administration (M.B.A.) which accepts scores from the Graduate Management Admissions Test (GMAT) or GRE;
and the Master of Public Administration (M.P.A.) which only accepts the GRE.

Preparation materials and practice tests for all of these tests are available online for no charge at http://www.testprepreview.com/. Practice for the GRE, analogies and other testing skills is also available at Learning Express Library. The UNCP Livermore Library has testing materials available for student checkout.

International students are also required to submit TOFEL or IELTS scores as part of the International Admission Process.

Miller Analogies Test Preparation Tips (Power Point Presentation)

The MAT is acceptable for admission to all graduate degree programs except the M.B.A. which requires the GMAT or GRE and the M.P.A. which requires the GRE. The MAT is administered on Mondays on the UNCP campus.  For more information on testing and registration visit: http://www.uncp.edu/caps/testing/You cannot pay the cashier or graduate office for this test. Graduate Record Exam (GRE)

The Graduate Record Exam (GRE) is a standard examination for potential graduate students in many areas of graduate study and is accepted by all graduate programs at The University of North Carolina at Pembroke except the Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree program. The GRE is the examination accepted by the M.P.A. program. The General Test of the GRE consists of quantitative, verbal, and analytical components. Students seeking admission to the UNCP School of Graduate Studies using the GRE need to submit scores on the general test only. For information on the GRE practice exam (click here)

Graduate Management Admissions Test (GMAT)

Students seeking admission into the Master of Business Administration (MBA) graduate degree program of The University of North Carolina at Pembroke may submit scores from the the Graduate Management Admission Test, better known as the "GMAT" (sometimes pronounced G-mat) or from the GRE (described above).

At present, the GMAT is not offered at the University of North Carolina at
Pembroke. Please contact the Graduate Management Admission Council to find a testing location in your area. Practice tests are available free of charge at www.testprepreview.com/gmat_practice.htm.
