World Cultures in Second Life. The 3D virtual-reality world Second Life provides an excellent environment for the study of world cultures and languages. This is a partial list of world cultures that can be found in Second Life sorted by language and where to find them in Second Life. The approximately 17 million residents of Second Life are divided into roughly 40 percent from the United States and 60 percent from elsewhere across the real world.

International Residents of Second Life. Many of the world's nations are represented among SL residents including people from Afghanistan, Argentina, Austria, Australia, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, China, Colombia, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Iraq, Israel, Italy, Japan, Kuwait, Mexico, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Turkey, The United Kingdom, the United States, and many other nations.

How to travel to a particular place in Second Life. SLURL is short for "Second Life URL," a Web address. SLURL's are direct links from the World Wide Web to specific locations inside Second Life. When you have your Second Life viewer open and you are logged into your account, clicking one of these SLURLs will take you directly to the listed location.
