My involvement with scientific research has made me intimately familiar with the surprise, and the sense of discovery inherent in science.I like to give back what I have learned by training younger scientists. I believe that once students hone their scientific skills, they can tackle the rigors and challenges of graduate studies or the professional world. I have served as research adviser for Minority Access to Research Careers (MARC) , Research Initiative for Scientific Enhancement (RISE), Honors College, BIO 4900 Independent Research and Chancellor's Scholars. Before joining UNCP, I was thesis adviser to 10 students from the University of the Philippines and 2 summer research interns from Duke University. I have successfully presented papers with my research students in regional and national conferences.
