The University of North Carolina at Pembroke offers the opportunity to study at Bangor University for a semester or full-year, in English.
Bangor University was founded in 1884, making it one of the oldest and most prestigious degree awarding institutions in the UK. For more than 125 years students from all over the world have graduated from Bangor and as a result gone on to achieve great success in their chosen careers.

Bangor is situated on the North Wales coast and is easy to reach from any part of the UK. Manchester International Airport is only a two-hour train journey away and London is only a four-hour train journey away.
A cathedral city, Bangor is set between the Snowdonia Mountains and the sea and is a beautiful and spectacular place to study. With miles of beautiful coastline and the nearby Snowdonia National Park, the area boasts some of the most beautiful and spectacular scenery in the country. Mount Snowdon - England and Wales’ highest peak is only a half hour journey from Bangor. It's a compact city - university buildings, accommodation and city centre are all within safe walking distance, so there's no need to catch any buses or trains to travel to the university, and you'll save money.
The city is safe, compact and cost effective with one of the lowest crime rates and cost of living of any university city. Everything in Bangor can be reached on foot, students do not need to purchase a car or rely on public transport.

UNCP students need to submit an application for study abroad. Once you have been accepted, we will nominate you to Bangor University. You will be sent further instructions from Bangor.

Initially you will register for WLS 4990-Study Abroad in Braveweb. Upon return we will replace WLS 4990-Study Abroad with your pre-approved coursework from Bangor. Please note these credits will be transfer credit and will not be included in your overall GPA. However, the courses/credits will apply towards the completion of your degree program at UNCP.
In order to successfully transfer credit back to UNCP, you must have a 'C' letter grade or the equivalent, or higher.

Housing is within walking distance of the city centre, Libraries, lecture theatres, seminar rooms and other academic buildings.
In order to enter the UK, students from most nationalities outside the European Union are required to obtain the necessary visas and entry clearance documents. Students who are classified as 'visa nationals' must obtain entry clearance as a student (a student visa) before traveling to the UK. Please review this important information.
UNCP students are required to purchase HTH International Health Insurance for the duration of their program. The cost is approximately $1.32/day (subject to change) and will cover you in every country but your home country.
Students can use their financial Aid for semester or year long programs. In order to be eligible students must take the equivalent of a full-time course load (12-18 credit hours). Please contac the Financial Aid Office to determine your financial aid eligibility.
