Are you thinking about Graduate School?
Do you have reasons to stay in this part of the state?
Do you want to know now what you will be doing after you graduate?
The 4+2 Program might be for you.
As a pilot program, the Master of Arts in English Education has been authorized provisionally to accept candidates well before they complete their Bachelor of Arts in English or English Education. If you are accepted, you can spend your last undergraduate semesters secure in the knowledge that you will be going to graduate school. We want to make your transition to graduate school as seamless as possible.
What programs are included?
Who is eligible for early provisional admission? Applicants must submit the following to the Graduate School:
Successful applicants may be granted provisional admission, pending completion of your degree (and license if applicable). Note that provisionally admitted students cannot take graduate courses until completion of the undergraduate degree, except as allowed by existing university policy (see below). Provisional admission will be rescinded in the event of a substantial drop in student performance, while any student denied 4+2 admission is welcome to apply again at the completion of the degree.
Interested students are invited to contact the Graduate Director, Roger A. Ladd (921-521-6624); email.
Undergraduate Enrollment for Graduate Courses
Provided they are otherwise qualified for admission to graduate study, seniors at UNCP who are within nine (9) semester hours of graduation may apply to the Dean of the School of Graduate Studies for permission to carry up to six (6) semester hours of graduate course work while completing the baccalaureate degree. Credit earned in this manner may not be used to meet requirements for the baccalaureate degree and, at the same time, applied toward the master’s degree. Seniors who qualify and wish to enroll in a graduate course for undergraduate credit must obtain the signature of approval of their advisor, the chairperson of their department, and the Dean of the School of Graduate Studies. However, no graduate course approved for undergraduate credit can be applied toward a master’s degree.
