UNCP’s School of Business restructures leadership
The School of Business rolled out a new organizational structure for 2006, according to Dean Eric Dent. Three new departmental chairs have been created.
Dr. Ed Powers will chair the Management, Marketing and International Business Department. Dr. Stephen Bukowy will chair the Accounting and Information Technology Department. Dr. Ramin Maysami will chair the Economics and Finance Department.
“This will structure us to better help our students with their academic and career pursuits,” Dr. Dent said.
The School of Business offers two majors, business administration (with seven areas of concentration) and accounting, as well as graduate study in business administration (MBA). Assistant Dean Cammie Hunt will continue to serve in Student Enrichment and Success, Dr. Rick Crandall continues to direct AACSB accreditation and Dr. Carmen Calabrese the MBA program.
“This packages our programs and faculty into more recognizable ways for our students and other stakeholders,” Dr. Dent said. “I am pleased with the progress the School of Business has made, and I look forward to working with these three chairs who are all very gifted individuals. They are assuming very important roles for the University and the School of Business as we move closer to AACSB accreditation, developing more learning outcome assessment, and deciding about new initiatives, among many other responsibilities.”
