UNCP gave a young Alan Thompson an opportunity to obtain a college education.
“The University gave me the opportunity to get a four-year degree that I might not have been able to get otherwise,” Thompson said. “It was a good fit for a young man who worked nights and was enlisted in the Army Reserves.
“I had good instructors who were helpful and caring,” he added. “The ROTC program added a lot to my education.”
Thompson said UNCP’s continued growth will help the region in many ways.
“Producing more and more graduates with four-year degrees will help the local economy,” he said. “A top notch nursing program is a real plus for the region’s health care.
“With football coming this fall, Pembroke is turning into a great college town,” he said.
As a CPA Thompson has wide ranging accounting, financial management and management experience in retail, health care, banking and insurance. He earned certification and/or licensure in bank directorship, non-profit auditing, health care billing and management, investment advising, personal finance, stock brokering and life and long-term care insurance.
