UNCP student hired for GoalQuest internship in N.Y.C.
UNC Pembroke senior Joey Kirk will serve a summer internship at GoalQuest Inc.’s New York headquarters.
Kirk, a business marketing and management major from Whiteville, N.C., was also awarded expenses for an international education trip to Europe.
GoalQuest is a software company that helps colleges and universities recruit, enroll, retain and communicate with a wide range of audiences. GoalQuest has approximately 120 college and university clients including the Center for Academic Excellence at UNCP.
Kirk interned with the Center for Academic Excellence last fall working with GoalsQuest’s Internet retention program called BraveWire. Thanks, in part, to Kirk’s work, BraveWire has exceeded goals by registering 70 percent of UNCP freshman.
“This is an outstanding internship and an opportunity gain experience in marketing at a national level,” said Darcy Hayes, an academic advisor with the center. “Joey is very reliable anddid outstanding work for us.”
Kirk said the fall internship with the Center for Academic Success helped him sharpen his communication skills and gave him an opportunity for the internship.
“The great summer internship will give me an opportunity to expand my marketing skills,” Kirk said. “I really feel these internships will strengthen my overall marketingexperience and assist me in developing and implementing effective marketing strategies on a larger scale.
As part of the application and interview process, Kirk submitted a nine-minute
video. The paid internship includes housing in the city.
