Creation Station brings Valentine’s Day fun to campus
By Sha’Lace Gregg
Creation Station II stopped by the University Center Feb. 14 bringing wish bears to students. The Valentine’s Day activity began at 10 a.m. in the student lounge where students made their very own stuffed friend.
“This activity proved to be rather relaxing,” said Joey Kirk, a junior at UNCP.
Creation Station had four bears to choose from: a polar bear, a traditional light-brown bear, a floppy-eared dog and a rottweiler bear.
After choosing a bear, each student was given a small bag of cotton for stuffing, a small star and their bear's birth certificate.
“It was hard to get the cotton in the arms and legs, but when my bear was complete it was all worth it,” said Tiffany Downing.
After stuffing the bear, students could simply insert a message device anywhere inside it. Most placed theirs in the hand or the tummy. Once pressed the message devices said things like “I love you,” “kisses” or “giggles.”
Next each student wrote a small wish on the star and placed it inside his or her bear making it a “wish bear.”
To add a stylish touch, a tiny bear size UNCP Braves “Be Mine 2006” tee shirt was added. After the bear was finished, students gave their new friend a name.
The create-a-bear was great for those who were looking for something new to do on Valentine's Day.
“It was great for the students and their valentines,” said Dwight Humphrey. The event was a success supplying many students with a new fuzzy friend on Valentine’s Day.
