Shane Kelly and Red Letter Reflection headline
By Nicole Lord
Mass Communications senior Ray Yip is producing a breast cancer awareness concert March 29 in Moore Hall.
There is no admission charge for the 7:30 p.m event.
Yip has arranged for two bands from Fayetteville and one from Lumberton to perform.
Headlining the concert is Shane Kelly, 26, from Fayetteville.
Kelly plays acoustic and electric guitar and sings, while Philip Foster, Kelly's tour manager, plays the bass and keyboard.
After he lost his mother to cancer, Kelly dropped his stage name, Conceiting to Victory, which he played under since 2002.
Shane Kelly attended UNCP from 2000 to 2003.
Jon Lloyd, a native of Lumberton, says his influences come from artists such as Al Green, Justin Timberlake, Brian McKnight and Craig David.
Band members Austin Tremblay, Garrett Adams and Ian Gullett play the guitar, bass and drums.
The band formed in the fall of 2005, and had their debut performance in Myrtle Beach on Oct. 15.
Lloyd released his first album titled "Element" in June of 2003. His second album, "Underneath," is set for release this year.
The concert is sponsored by PRSSA.
Mass Communications majors have been producing creative senior projects.Last semester, Thomas "T.J." Jones sponsored a fashion show, and Ariel Houchens created a magazine.
