Provost Charles Harrington announced the retirement of Professor Thomas Leach as Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences at the end of the academic year.

Dr. Harrington named Dr. Paul Flowers, professor of chemistry, as Acting Dean for the 2007-08 academic year as a search for a new dean begins.

"I was proud to be part of the accomplishments of 'all' members of this university, a group of people working together to make things happen,” Dean Leach said.  “I feel pride for the institution, the people and the community. All of these accomplishments are a result of people working together and pulling together to make things happen.”
A retirement reception will be held May 1 from 2 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. in the Chancellor's Dining Room to honor Dean Leach for 32 years of service and dedication to the university.

Dr. Harrington appointed Dr. Tom Dooling, associate professor of physics, to replace Dr. Flowers as the chair of Chemistry and Physics. Executive Editor Scott Ammons also contributed to this story.
