UNCP PRSSA hosts annual golf tournament
By Sarah Barbee
The UNCP Chapter of the Public Relations Student Society of America will hold its second annual "Make Par for PR" Golf Tournament Fundraiser on March 19 at the Pinecrest Country Club in Lumberton.
Tee off time for the tournament will be at 2 p.m. The tournament is formatted so that it is captain's choice. Players will be divided into groups of four based on the player's handicap.
"We invite any golfer, regardless of their ability, to come out and join us," Ashley E. Cole, golf tournament co-chairwoman, said.
The registration is $50 per player. Corporate sponsorship ranges from $150 to $500.
UNCP PRSSA will gladly accept other donations. All donors will be recognized in the event program.
Registration includes the green fees for 18 holes, cart fees, refreshments and a cookout supper served when players have finished their rounds of golf.
Prizes will be awarded to the top three teams of the tournament. Everyone who plays will receive gifts donated by area merchants.
Those who play will not only gain the chance to network with others in the community but will also help provide funding to UNCP students to continue their dedicated work to their education and future professions.
The 18-hole Pinecrest course features 6,578 yards of golf from the longest tees to a par of 72. The course rating is 71.3 and it has a slope rating of 127. The course was designed by Donald J. Ross, a member of ASGCA, and was opened in 1940.
