Director of Alumni Relations, Renee Steele, graduated
from UNCP in 1993.

Renee Steele brings her knowledge and experience as an alumuna of the university and former vice president of the alumni association to the job of Director of Alumni Relations at UNCP that she began in January.

Steele graduated from UNCP in 1993 with a degree in political science.

She plans to take the alumni relations department to the next level. She wants to get former alumni to come back and encourage students.

She also wants alumni to be reconnected back to the university, if they have lost touch. She wants to be able to have role models for the currently enrolled students. And, she wants to be involved in helping mentoring students as well.

Steele had a mentor push her while was participating in the Miss UNCP pageant and helped her gain the confidence to win the title.

She went on to participate in the Miss Spivey's Corner pageant after the Miss UNCP pageant.

After she graduated she was drawn back to UNCP because of the positive experience she had here as a student. The faculty and staff took the time at the university to guide her where she wanted to go.

She also loved participating in those school events she was in while she was a student at the university.

When she was a student at UNCP, many of students who were coming to the university were commuter students.

She remembered that there may have been only about 3,000 students at the university. They had Thursday night dances and had just acquired Bert's.

In addition to her duties as Director of Alumni Relations, she is currently pursuing a doctoral degree at Fayetteville State University and is in her second semester.

She enjoys spending time with her family and reading and boxing for exercise.
