Seals show cancelled

By Margaret Damghani
Asst. Around the Campus Editor

Dan and Jim Seals did not perform at GPAC as scheduled on Feb. 2 due to a death in the family of close friend and band mate John Porter.

Porter has been part of Dan Seal’s band since 1986, according to Patricia Fields, executive director of GPAC. His son’s funeral was Feb 1.

Percy Sledge performed in Seals and Seals place. Seals and Seals may reschedule their performance for next year.             Tickets that had already been purchased could be used to see Percy Sledge, to get a refund or to get a credit for a future show, Fields said.

Jim Seals was a part of the popular 1970’s rock group Seals and Crofts, while his brother Dan Seals got his beginning in the England Dan and John Ford Coley group that was also popular in the 1970’s, according to www.sealsandseals.com.

In the 1980’s Dan Seals became a popular solo country artist, and in 2002 Jim and Dan Seals decided to join together and form Seals and Seals.

More information on the group and samples of their music can be found at www.sealsandseals.com.
