Family Day a success

By Kayloni Wyatt

At first glance the University Center lawn resembled something from an afternoon television special.

There were chalk drawings on the ground, laughter filled the air and parents tried to keep up with their children

The UNCP campus was transformed April 14 for Family Day.

There were inflatable obstacle courses, wild animals, and other games spread across the University Center lawn.

Family Day was hosted for the staff, students and faculty and their families from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

“It’s great how the university makes the families feel included,” said one parent as she was surrounded by her three children and her husband.

Children ran around with face paint and balloon animals.

There were many other activities in the University Center lounge for families.

There was a bingo game held at 1:30 p.m.

There was also an art and ice cream sale.

The game room also contributed to Family Day by having free play from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Families were able to either sit out outside and enjoy the sun, or stay inside to play games.

“I wanted to be a big kid and just jump in the inflatable boxing ring.

I even waited in line for a balloon animal,” said visitor Shannon Stigall.
