Crime was light on campus last week with fire, theft and trespassing

Sept. 5 a person received a campus level charge for soliciting for money near the University Center.
Sept. 5 there was an accident in parking lot number 19.
Sept. 1 and 6 three people were charged with underage consumption of alcohol. They received campus level charges.
Campus police said they are trying to stop underage consumption this year. They are going to be visible in all the dorms.
Sept. 2 two laptops were stolen from Pine Hall. If anyone has information, they are asked to call campus police at 910.521.6235.
Campus police said it is always important to lock your door when you leave.
Aug. 29 there was an identity theft.
Aug. 26 a person was charged with damage to state property. They were arrested and received a campus level charge.
Aug. 25 campus police confiscated an airsoft gun from West Hall. The person received a campus level charge.
Aug. 25 campus police arrested and charged a student for trespassing in the Dial Building.
Aug. 24 a resident of Wellons Hall set the room on fire burning incense. There was smoke and minimal fire damage to the wall. He received a campus level charge.
A rule against burning incense is strictly enforced. Campus police said it will not be tolerated.
Aug. 24 a person received a campus level charge for furnishing false information. This happened at the university center.
There was a professor’s credit card stolen and then believed to be used at the Walmart in Pembroke.
Campus police said they believe it is a student that used it.
One issue that campus police say they are not having is parking.
“There are about 300 spots available behind the Burger King parking lot,” said Betty Strickland.
All of the spots are never full on campus during the day, she added.
