The end of the 2013 school year kicked off with the second annual "School's Out Summer Jam" sponsored by the town of Pembroke.

The event included a dunking booth, entertainment and socializing.

Local performances included the Henry Berry Band, Dark Water Rising, Dillon Deal, Faith Cummings, Vincea Locklear, and Jana.

Water and drinks were provided by the town of Pembroke while food and snacks were provided by Grillin & Chillin.

Vendors at the event included UNCP Healthy Start Corps and a jewelry stand hosted by jewelry-maker Courtney Locklear.

Nine year old William Locklear was having fun being dunked while his Mother Christine Locklear sat watching close by.

"Last year was our very first Summer Jam Fest and we didn't have such a good turn out," town clerk Amira Hunt said. "We believe it was because we held it in the morning."

"This year however, we held the event a little later in the afternoon and had a larger turn out," she said.

"It's for our children and it was wonderful to see everyone having fun," she said.

The event was June 15 at the Pembroke Recreation Complex.
