Baseball sweeps Bloomfield

Braves baseball pulled off a three-game sweep on Homecoming weekend, defeating the Bloomfield College Deacons twice on Feb. 4 and once on Feb. 5.

The Braves outscored the Deacons 44-14 in the three-game series, putting up double-digit runs in each game.

The Braves had some help from Bloomfield in the the series finale, as the Deacons made many miscues en route to being swept.

Bloomfield made five errors, put five Braves on base via hit-by-pitch and balked twice.

First baseman Jeff Adams had a game-high four hits, including the game’s only homerun, and drove in two runs.
Designated hitter Barrett Otto chipped in with three hits and three runs.

Mike Saluzzi picked up the win for the Braves, pitching 3 2/3 innings. Saluzzi struck out three while giving up four runs.

John Anderson took the loss for Bloomfield, allowing six earned runs in four innings.

Kevin Lauranzon led the Deacons with three hits and two RBI.
In the doubleheader on Feb. 4, the Braves scored 10 in the first game and 18 in the second, holding Bloomfield to three in each contest.
