Eubanks, McDowell place high for Braves track

During the UNCP track and field teams' competition at the UNC Invitational on Feb. 12, the Braves had an athlete stand out on both the men's and women's sides.
For the men, senior Maurice Eubanks grabbed a second and third place finish during the competition in the 200-meter dash and 60-meter dash.
Eubanks' time of 21.97 seconds in the 200-meter race gave him his second place honor, while his time of 6.93 seconds gave him third in the 60-meter contest.
Fellow UNCP senior Sesh Parker captured a 11th place finish in the 200- meter race with his 23.35 second time, while sophomore Jonathan Williams finished eighth in the 800- meter run and freshman Chris Schroll tallied a 10th place finish in the 3000- meter run.
In the field events, Braves junior A.J. Davis Jr. finished ninth in the weight throw and 17th in the shot put.
On the women's side, McDowell brought home a fifth and a sixth place finish for the Lady Braves. The senior tallied a distance of 5.22 meters in the long jump to finish fifth, and her time of 8.01 seconds in the 60-meter dash gave her sixth place.
McDowell also added a 13th place finish in the 200- meter dash.
UNCP junior Kye Tennyson's mark of 1.60 meters gave her sixth place in the high jump, while she also finished 12th in the 200 meter dash.
Freshman Janay Moore finished 14th in the 800- meter run for the Lady Braves, while junior Livia Mahaffie placed 11th in the 3000-meter race.
In the field events, senior Katherine Davis finished seventh in the shot put and 13th in the weight throw.
Both UNCP men's and women's track and field teams will compete in the Black and Gold Intra-Squad Challenge on Feb. 26.
