Football stuns fifth ranked WSSU

The football home opener for UNCP against fifth-ranked Winston-Salem State on Sept. 5 was the culmination of months of buildup and excitement. Volleyball enters second year under Byrd

The UNCP Lady Braves volleyball team ended last season with a 5-26 record and finished last in the Peach Belt Conference. However, the team does bring back their leader in kills and digs from last year, Marissa Baker. Baker had 229 kills, which averages out to 2.29 kills per set and 268 digs. After 30 years of leading the UNCP men's and women's track and field teams, Larry Rodgers announced his retirement on June 28. Rodgers has been the UNCP track and field program's head coach since the 1981-1982 season, which ultimately became the only head coaching job Rodgers held.

UNCP offers 16 NCAA Division II sports, eight men's and eight women's teams, that compete in the Peach Belt Conference. The PBC is regarded as one of the toughest Division II conferences in the country in multiple sports.

UNCP's dynamic baseball team swept Flagler in a three game series March 12 and 13. The Braves took game one 4-3 in dramatic fashion thanks to a Joe Mangum walk-off double before tallying 17 runs in game two and rallying back for a 8-4 win in the series finale.
