Welcome to the Department of Political Science and Public Administration at UNC Pembroke!

Excellence: Our Mission. Our Vision. Our Objective.

The Department is committed to excellence in student preparation, engaging in significant research to expand knowledge of public affairs, and bringing this knowledge to public sector and non-profit leaders and workers within our service region.

We offer a Masters in Public Administration (MPA) degree, and an undergraduate concentration in public administration as part of a Bachelors Degree (BA) in political science.  The MPA degree is offered through three delivery methods: an on-campus program at UNCP, an online program, and through a satellite campus in southeastern North Carolina.

We emphasize quality teaching within our programs, striving to produce well-prepared graduates for the public, non-profit, and private sectors. Each faculty member actively engages in scholarship and professional service, bringing both their knowledge and experience into the classroom.

Please explore our Web site to learn more about our degree programs, both undergraduate and MPA, our students, and our faculty.  The public and non-profit sectors continue to lead in job growth, and retirements among existing public and non-profit sector workers will only increase the demand for well-trained leaders and senior administrators as replacements.  We are committed to preparing you not just for “a job” or “a paycheck,” but instead for a career, with the necessary skills and knowledge required for those who will lead their organizations.  Our degree programs are not easy, nor will you finish them as quickly as some programs teasing you with testimonials about degrees “in no time at all.” Our classes are demanding, but the professional payoff for our graduates is obvious.
